HSBO Pro offers Practical Training Courses Workshops
Training – Tutorials – Workshops at HSBO Forum
Friday May 9 – 2014
1. Health Monitoring & Impact Measuring on Hulls and Humans ½ day
Objective: Participants shall bring back sufficient knowledge to be able to handle their own measuring procedures and be able to compare future results with other’s.
Topics:Current standards for whole body exposure to impacts and vibration will be explained. Equipment for measuring exposure on hulls and humans will be demonstrated and explained for participants to be able manage their own measurements and both visualize the results and understand them.
The new standard for monitoring development of pain, the PainDrawing app will demonstrated explained. (Download free from Paindrawing.com, Appstore or Google Play.)
Tutors: Sven Åke Eriksson M.Sc. & Carl Magnus Ullman M.Sc.
2. Defining requirements for new boat projects and lifetime extensions.½ day
Objective:Participants shallbring back sufficient knowledge to be able to structure boat acquisition projects,so that they result in what the end users will need during the lifecycle of the platforms.
Topics: Structured analysis of requirements, Multipurpose platforms, Writing technical specifications that allow the buyer to choose the best option offered by tenderers. Validating tenders. Validating prototypes and test platforms.
Tutors: Bob MacDonald Lt Col. ret. UK Royal Marines & James Wilton Major ret. Australian SAS.
3. Designing Cockpits for Speed – Practical Approaches ½ day
Objective: Participants shall bring back sufficient knowledge to be able to design cockpits optimised for vessel control, comfort and safety,as well as for performingall required task under ways.
Topics: Geometries, Work postures, Biomechanics, Controls and Instruments Sightlines and Glare, Aerodynamics et.c.
Tutors: Johan Ullman M.D. & Lorne Campbell Naval Architect.
4. Assessment of structural loads and operational limitations of high speed small craft ½ day
Objective: Participants shall learn which kinds of dynamic exposure cause structural failure, how to predict the relevant loads and how to operate the craft in safe manner.
Topics: Principles of structural design of small high-speed boats using acceleration levels as primary parameter. Defining of safe operational envelope of the craft. Theoretical assessment and experimental measurements of accelerations and structural loads. Accelerometers range and types, measured data processing. Deformations and structural failures, vulnerable areas and monitoring, safety factors and structural design improvements for both composite and aluminum hulls.
Tutor: Albert Nazarov, Ph.D.
5 . High-Speed Boat Handling in Testing and Demonstration. – Full day
Objective: Participants shallbring back sufficient knowledge to be able to safely conduct demonstrations, sea trials and performance testing at full speed in a professional way. Incidents and accidents do occur during demonstrations and testing of new boats. This is not good for the people onboard -nor for boat builder.
This 8-hour training course teaches practical boat handling at high speed. Focus ison how to test and demonstrate capacities of a platform, without risking accidents or embarrassing blunders.
This is a full day course, with one instructor and 4 students per boat.
Main tutor: Andreas Isaksson Serg.ret. Sw. Amphibious Forces
Fees: For HSBO delegates 290 €; For Non delegates 590 €.
Boat owners supplying a boat for the course get one person trained for free.
Certificates will be issued as proof of completed courses.
Fees for ½ day seminars: For HSBO delegates –120 €; Non delegates – 250 €;
